MRFF's POSITION:
USAFA's SUPT. LT. GEN.
MICHELLE JOHNSON
NOT FIT FOR POSITION
OF UNIVERSITY CHANCELLOR

"Johnson has shamefully continued the pernicious “USAFA tradition” of full scale religious scandals involving unconstitutional proselytization gleefully perpetrated by the overwhelming and unrestricted presence of fundamentalist Christians on her
faculty, staff and in the Cadet Wing."
- Mikey Weinstein

Mikey Weinstein's Statement on USAFA's Supt. Lt. General Michelle Johnson Being Chosen as a Finalist for Chancellor of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs:

"Johnson has shamefully continued the pernicious "USAFA tradition" of full scale religious scandals involving unconstitutional proselytization gleefully perpetrated by the overwhelming and unrestricted presence of fundamentalist Christians on her faculty, staff and in the Cadet Wing.

The fact remains that MRFF represents multiple hundreds of USAFA cadets, faculty and staff members (84% of them practicing Christians) who feel as though they must “play along” with the status quo, uber-Christian powers-that-be during Johnson's tenure in order to literally survive. If not openly endorsed, she has tacitly approved of the hurtful, cruel and brutal actions of fundamentalist Christians who see their one spiritual path as the ONLY necessary and sufficient condition for honorable service at the Air Force Academy.

In particular, atheist/agnostic/minority faith cadets have told me on just way too many occasions that it is far more acceptable among USAFA leadership and their peers to come out as LGBT than to openly profess skepticism or defiance to the one true USAFA faith; fundamentalist Christianity.

I'm not sure she even personally believes that way, but she has meekly acquiesced to the daunting power which that group of free-range-evangelizing, Christian religious supremacists holds over the Academy and is therefore just as complicity guilty of the deep, pervasive and lasting damage caused by this disgusting bigotry." - Mikey Weinstein

Air Force to UCCS? Concerns over a chancellor finalist

Friday, April 28, 2017

The selection of Air Force Lt. Gen. Michelle Johnson as a finalist for chancellor of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs has triggered pushback over the question of her qualifications.

The academy's slow responses to FOIA is well established. Last year, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation sued over a seven-year delay, and in February the academy settled by agreeing to speed up a response and pay MRFF's $25,000 in legal fees.

Sen. Bill Armstrong

religion and learning

Thursday, April 27, 2017

Friday, our beloved former President William L. Armstrong is being honored during a joint session at the Colorado State Capitol. A two-term U.S. senator, congressman, and business leader for Colorado, William L. Armstrong devoted his life to public service. He finished his career as the president of Colorado Christian University where he said it was the "the most significant, energizing, and rewarding work he had ever undertaken."

Dear Mr. Weinstein.

Please do not reply to this email address as it cannot accept replies. We want to keep our names out of this please. Unlike you we are private people.

My husband and I and our next door neighbors from Denver all came to your recent debate at Colo. Christian Univ. We are committed Christians who don't just "think" our faith is right because we 'suspect" that it is. We know it is right. And the only one which is as says John 14:6. There are no other exceptions.

We have heard and seen a lot about you through the years. To be honest we expected the worst when we heard you were to be invited to the debate. But I must say however that you were very pleasant and nice. Even though it is very clear that you do not understand where you are going to go after you die unless you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. It is sad that you reject the Lord and we grieve for your eternal fate and that of your family.

Hell is a real place and it looks like you are going to be a permanent resident there but we hope not. [...]

Dear (name withheld),

Are you familiar with the term, sanctimony? I would think so, since you personify it. If not, I'd suggest you look it up. Once you've done that, re-read this message you sent Mr. Weinstein. Once you've done that, if you are actually a Christian, you'll have some apologizing to do.
