EMAIL TO MIKEY WEINSTEIN FROM A GRATEFUL MILITARY CHAPLAIN ENDORSER IN RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE ARTICLE "5 PEOPLE DONALD TRUMP SHOULD BE THANKFUL FOR..."
Mikey, I just saw the article “Five People Donald Trump Should Be Thankful For This Week,” in Charisma magazine and you were listed as a cause of the “voter back-lash” that has help elect Mr. Trump. While this may or may not be true, you should be thanked for what you do.
... So I am thankful for you, Mikey! Without you and MRFF out there on constant vigil, certain chaplains [who are credentialed by faith groups who believe and demand that their chaplains are “missionaries and evangelists in uniform”] as well as other military leaders would be constantly violating proper boundaries, trampling all over military personnel’s rights (and sometimes chaplains’ rights!) to be left alone in their personal private beliefs and practices, and not proselytized, not brow-beat or shamed or coerced into Bible studies -- or forced to live as second class citizens (at best) in our “Christian” armed forces. Sometimes these folks still “get over,” but more often than not, they know that you are watching and they don’t try it, or if they do, they work hard to be especially subtle and clever in their attempts to convert, persuade, and influence.
You deserve credit for improving the quality of chaplaincy and as well as the work and lifestyle cultures of the military as a whole. Thank you.
From an “endorser” [a chaplain-credentialer on behalf of a faith group] who is committed to a chaplaincy that exists for the free exercise of religion and the accommodation of religion and worldviews -- for all military members and their families. I am but one of many such endorsers who are thankful for you.
This ecclesiastical endorser is but one of the hundreds of Evangelical Christians that MRFF serves each year to protect our nation’s men and women in uniform from harassment and discrimination.
