MRFF and Spc. Jeremy Hall Receive
an Outpouring of Support
Following a Weekend of
Mainstream Media Coverage
The following are just a few of the many emails
we received after last weekend's coverage
Subject: thank-you
Hi Mike
I heard you on WCCO talk radio w/Jack Rice 04/29/08. Thank-you! I agree it's not about political parties. When I saw the story on 60 minutes I was shocked. We are a country of Freedom of Choice. As a Christian I have to admit I don't understand all faiths. I'm still on my journey with my own faith. But I can't judge. We allow everyone into this country and we have to be open, not bias of an individual's faith.
I do get sick of politics because it seems issues are always split democrat/republican. It was so refreshing to hear someone speak with knowledge, not bias to one political party and tell it like it is.
I listen to talk radio every day. I called in that day in support of you and the message/passion you shared.
thank-you,
P.B.
Subject: Military Religious Freedom
I just wanted to write to say I support your organization. Though I myself am a Christian, I have a son in the Air Force who has chosen Wicca as his religion. I have done some research on his chosen religion and understand it more than I did before my research.
I think since as a civilian, I have my fundamental right of religion, those in the military should have the same rights. No matter what their belief or non-belief, they should have the right to do their duty to their country without fear of their life because they believe or don't believe or even if their religion is not the traditional "Christian" religion.
Thank you for doing what you can for our military personnel. I would not my son to go through what the young man from Ft. Riley has gone through because of his non-belief.
Thank you again,
E.W.
Subject: Jeremy Hall
I was appalled to read an Associated Press article about the treatment of Jeremy Hall. Atheist or not, this is a young man who is willing to make personal sacrifices and fight for his county - for the freedom of each person in America to adhere to their own beliefs. If his choice is not to believe in God, it should be respected.
If truth be told, I think each and every so-called Christian has questioned the existence of God at least once in their life. But the foundation of Christianity, as I was taught, is love, compassion, understanding, and acceptance of those who might hold different beliefs than our own. Sounds like Mr. Hall has encountered some people who may not be Atheists, but aren't true Christians either.
I don't believe in war, but I'm certainly not going to condemn those who are willing to defend my right not to believe in war. The United States Army should be defending this young man's rights, rather than persecuting him for his beliefs. I don't think religious freedom means you are required to believe in God, but rather you have the freedom to make religious choices. And Atheism a religious choice.
Please pass along this message to Mr. Hall. I wish him well in his fight for justice, and I hope his situation improves. And thank you, Jeremy Hall, for being willing to defend our country and our rights.

MRFF,
I'm a '92 Grad from USAFA and serving on active duty. From my time at the AFA, I've endured religious intolerance and been forced to make career/personal decisions based on the religious beliefs of my superiors. I jumped off the couch when I saw your story on CBS' Sunday Morning and I am looking forward to learning more about your organization and getting involved when/where able.
Thank you, thank you,
K.N.
